The original instrument was by Berend Huß in 1668. It is assumed that Arp Schnitger was in charge of the majority of the instrument. In 1688, Schnitger added a stop requested by Vincent Lübeck, who was then organist of the church. Since that time, the instrument has been much modified. In 1975, Ahrend completed a restoration/reconstruction that returned it to its original state
